Ben Clifton (Patrick) is a television writer living in Los Angeles. Imagine his surprise when, out of the blue,
Lulu (Melanie Griffith) appears back in his life. Lulu is a romantic schizophrenic who leaves her institution to
track down Ben, her college soulmate. Ben's marriage is going through a difficult time and the arrival of Lulu
brings back many memories. Reunited, Lulu lures Ben on a bizarre, yet poignant cross-country trek to their past
and to a secret. Meanwhile, a threatened Claire (Penelope Ann Miller) rushes after them in an effort to save
her marriage.
Forever Lulu has been described variously as a "black comedy", a "beautiful love story" and a "tear jerker" -
whatever label they want to give it, it is a story of second chances, making things right again and builds to
a dramatic climax at the end of an emotional journey.
